From viral sensations to mysterious up-and-comers, 2018 has already produced an incredible crop of new artists that remind us why we listen to new music at all. Here are some of our favorites so far.

Stingray Music and the Winnipeg Folk Festival aim to nurture musicians in the community, showcase up-and-coming artists from across Canada, and provide career stepping stones. This year, 32 performers participated in the Stingray Young Performers Program and were mentored by festival performers Jeremy Fisher, Harrow Fair, Fortunate Ones, Jadea Kelly and The LYNNeS who provided invaluable insight into the music industry, songwriting, and performance experience.
