Our Stingray Rising Stars program continues its summer road trip across Canada! We stopped in beautiful Halifax from July 10 to 15 to attend the TD Halifax Jazz Festival, a longstanding Stingray Music partner.

From viral sensations to mysterious up-and-comers, 2018 has already produced an incredible crop of new artists that remind us why we listen to new music at all. Here are some of our favorites so far.

L’été a commencé en beauté avec l’inspirante et festive sélection musicale signée Alfa Rococo. Durant tout le mois de juillet, le duo électro-pop aura sa chaîne vedette sur Stingray Musique. Un savoureux mélange de leurs propres chansons et de leurs coups de cœur du moment.

Stingray Music and the Winnipeg Folk Festival aim to nurture musicians in the community, showcase up-and-coming artists from across Canada, and provide career stepping stones. This year, 32 performers participated in the Stingray Young Performers Program and were mentored by festival performers Jeremy Fisher, Harrow Fair, Fortunate Ones, Jadea Kelly and The LYNNeS who provided invaluable insight into the music industry, songwriting, and performance experience.

On a record-breakingly hot Canada Day, Stingray Music visited the nation’s capital again this year to attend the 2018 TD Ottawa Jazz Festival. We were welcomed with incredible music, yummy food, and the chance to provide 3 bursaries to deserving new talent.

Much like a certain Canadian rapper, let’s split this into a hip-hop side and an R&B side.
