Big Ride for Africa | Giving Back

Intense!
That is how Robert, James, Wouter, and Anouk (that's me!) from Stingray's Amsterdam office would describe the 300 km Big Ride for Africa. Challenging and sharp climbs, speedy descents, stunning landscapes, and lots of fun for a great charity. And, well lots and lots of pain the day after.

MIPTV 2018 | From Cannes with Raindrops: A Look Back

Twice a year, I get to go to Cannes to sit in the spring or late-summer sunshine for MIPTV and MIPCOM. Not this time though, as it was raining almost 24 hours a day during this edition of the largest global distribution market, and leading TV and online content development event of the season.

The Gospel of Gregory Porter | Concert Review

From the moment he walked on stage until after the encore, two-time Grammy award-winning American singer-songwriter Gregory Porter, captured the attention of the sold-out crowd at his February 23 concert at the Maison Symphonique de Montréal during the Montreal En Lumière festival. Backed by a 5 piece band, Porter’s baritone voice powerfully filled the room for almost two hours. It was easy to turn off the outside world with all its troubles and fall under Porter’s captivating spell into his soulful world of song.

A Salute to Music City Montreal

As South Londoner and modern soul hero Sampha (“Close But Not Quite”) conquers my speakers, it’s time to relativize and dream. Music is a common love for most of our human fellows, and maybe even other species can enjoy music to the same extent. But, I don’t want to generalize. A recent Harvard study showed that only 50% of people get goosebumps while listening to music. You, for 50 percent sure know those moments. These moments where you want to drown in time, and when those soundscapes and music work to its climax; this perfect symbiosis between chords, vocals, and other sounds. That moment where everything comes together. But, there is a big but, it’s not only about the music: it’s about your ability to imagine, to dream away, to emphasize and embrace the story behind it. Your story. And in this case, Montreal’s story.
