So far, 2018 has been a roller coaster of a year, but leave it to the women working in music today and yesterday to deliver us some hopeful, empowering, and body-moving music to carry us through. Tons of empowering songs by women have hit the airwaves in the last decade, preaching body positivity, supporting other women, exploring the highs and lows of love and singing about taking control of their own destiny.

If you ever need a pick-me-up or just want to celebrate womanhood in all its multifaceted glory, these are the songs you'll want to have at the ready. From Kesha to Madonna, Lady Gaga, Pink, and Cyndi Lauper, these women make music about the various unique ways women do it differently.

REMEMBER: Women wonder.  They dream, explore, discover, challenge, rattle, break, upset, imagine, push, shatter, drive, risk, and poke.  Women also reach their dreams and change the world. Women are disruptors.

Here’s to all the badass ladies out there, yourself included. Turn up the volume, tag your sisters and have a day that will go down in HERstory. This 2018, the FEMpire strikes back.
