We are proud to announce the establishment of an economic stimulus plan with our 104 radio stations in markets across Canada. The $15 million Stingray Radio Local Stimulus Plan has been designed to help local Canadian businesses obtain economic stimulus grants in the form of radio advertising. Grants will range from a minimum of $1000 up to a maximum of $100,000 in radio advertising per business and will be determined and approved by the local Stingray radio management. We are happy to do our part in working together to overcome these difficult times.

We’ve met with Ian Lurie, President, Stingray Radio to learn more about the program.

How did we come up with this program?

Radio advertising has long been a successful stimulus for local economic activity in our country. We are delighted to support local businesses lacking the capital resources to invest in advertising to effectively relaunch their business. The Stingray Stimulus Program is our way of helping to kick-start Canada’s economic engine for local businesses.

Where is the Stingray Stimulus Plan available?

We proudly serve the country’s largest cities and smallest towns, with 104 radio stations from coast-to-coast, from Vancouver to St. John’s. The Stingray Stimulus program is available to businesses that operate within 100 km of a municipality in which a Stingray Radio station is located. Are all businesses eligible?

We will support access to radio advertising grants for local Canadian businesses in all sectors. For the Stingray Stimulus Plan, local Canadian business is defined as any registered Canadian business, not for profit organization or charity that operates within 100 km of the designated municipality in which the applicable Stingray radio operation is located.

Are there any obligations?

The recipient business will have twelve months to utilize the radio advertising grant provided towards booking and airing a radio advertising campaign and will not be required to invest additional sums with Stingray radio stations to receive the grant.

Stingray is proud to partner with non-profit One Tree Planted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. On April 22, we’ll help the world breathe a little easier.

With the support of some American distribution partners, Stingray has committed to planting one tree for every hour of Stingray Naturescape streamed on Earth Day 2020 (April 22). This initiative has the potential of adding thousands of trees to One Tree Planted’s reforestation efforts, which will directly impact community empowerment and local agroforestry projects. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.

Stingray Naturescape (previously branded as Stingray Ambiance) features breathtaking, relaxing scenery from around the world, including majestic forests and woodlands. We invite all viewers with access to the Stingray Naturescape free, ad-supported channel to tune in for at least one hour on Earth Day!

Stingray partners with the East Coast Music Association to celebrate Atlantic Canadian talent via new channel.

As part of its partnership with the East Coast Music Association (ECMA), Stingray is proud to present the Stingray Music channel 100% East Coast. Canadian Style celebrating talents from Canada’s Atlantic region. The channel features 150 tracks from a wide range of East Coast artists such as Neon Dreams, Eastern Owl, Sirène et Matelot, Jimmy Rankin, Sam Wilson, Motherhood, Jenn Grant, Thomas Stajcer, Les Hay Babies, Jody Upshaw, Zaum, and Natalie MacMaster.

Part of the channel was curated by compiling the top 100 tracks in over 20 genres, based on scores from the ECMA’s 2020 awards submissions process. The remaining 50 tracks were provided by ECMA’s regional music industry partners. Some of the selections on the channel also include legacy acts as an acknowledgment to their important contribution to the East Coast music community.

“Partnering with Stingray to create the 100% East Coast. Canadian Style channel is a first for the ECMAs and a massive boost for artists in the Atlantic region. Our musicians will directly benefit in the form of royalty payments as well as promotion of their music on the global Stingray network. Moving forwards, it's a win-win for everyone involved,” says Andy McLean, CEO of the East Coast Music Association.

Since 1989, ECMA has celebrated, promoted, and developed the work of musicians from the Atlantic provinces. It is ECMA’s mission to develop, advance and celebrate East Coast Canadian Music throughout the region, nationally, and around the world. They advocate for their members to ensure they can sustain music careers and music businesses while based in Atlantic Canada. Today, ECMA represents over 1,600 musicians and industry members who showcase their work annually at the East Coast Music Awards: Festival & Conference presented by TD. The 33rd edition of the event will be held May 5-9, 2021 in Sydney, Cape Breton. The festival is a party for music fans, bringing them up close and personal with Canadian stars from the eastern provinces.
