We are thrilled to announce that Stingray Group Inc. has received the bronze certification from Vélo Québec's VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE movement. This prestigious recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting cycling as a sustainable and healthy mode of transportation.

What is the VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE movement?

The VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE movement encourages communities and organizations to promote cycling as a means of transportation and recreation for all. Through its rigorous certification process, it offers tools and support to communities and organizations working to foster cycling.

Launched by Vélo Québec in 2015, the VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE movement is inspired by the Bicycle Friendly America program, created in 1980 by The League of American Bicyclists, and implemented in Ontario through the Share the Road Cycling Coalition in 2010.

The bronze certification is the initial level of recognition offered by the Mouvement VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE, which evaluates communities, organizations, and campuses on their commitment to developing a cycling culture. This level of certification is awarded based on significant actions implemented across various areas of intervention, considering the specific realities of each entity.

Our bike initiatives

Cycling is more than just a mode of transportation. It's a catalyst for change towards a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. By incorporating cycling into our daily lives, we contribute to reducing our carbon footprint, improving our physical and mental health, and creating more connected and dynamic communities.

To achieve this level of certification, we have implemented several initiatives, such as:

Facilities and services: We have installed numerous bike racks and an autonomous repair station. We also secured a corporate BIXI subscription to encourage our employees to use bikes as their primary mode of transport during the warm season.
Events and awareness: We organize a professional bike tune-up event for two full days in the spring, offering free tune-ups to interested employees. Our commitment is also evident in our annual participation in the 48H vélo Make-A-Wish, where our Stingray teams raise funds for a noble cause read the full article here.
Communication and education: We keep our employees informed about cycling initiatives during onboarding and through the intranet. Our internal bike club gathers enthusiasts to share tips and organize rides.

A continuous commitment

This certification is just the beginning. We are committed to continuing our efforts to improve our infrastructure and programs, and to further encouraging our employees to adopt cycling as their preferred means of transport.

In the coming year, we aim to strengthen our commitment to cycling by assessing our employees' needs to better adapt our infrastructure. We will continue to offer free services to keep their bicycles in perfect condition and organize workshops led by professionals to educate our employees on the health and environmental benefits of cycling. These awareness campaigns will ensure that all our initiatives are accessible and inclusive, creating an environment conducive to cycling, thereby enhancing our employees' quality of life while reducing our environmental footprint.

Qu'est-ce que le mouvement VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE ?

Le mouvement VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE encourage les collectivités et les organisations à faire du vélo une réelle option en matière de transport et de loisirs pour tous. À travers sa démarche de certification rigoureuse, il propose des outils et un service de soutien aux collectivités et organisations qui travaillent à favoriser la pratique du vélo.

Lancé par Vélo Québec en 2015, le mouvement VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE s’inspire du programme Bicycle Friendly America, créé en 1980 par The League of American Bicyclists, et implanté en Ontario par Share the Road Cycling Coalition en 2010.

Nos initiatives liées au Vélo

Le vélo est bien plus qu'un simple moyen de transport. C'est un vecteur de changement vers un mode de vie plus sain et durable. En intégrant le vélo dans notre quotidien, nous contribuons à réduire notre empreinte carbone, à améliorer notre santé physique et mentale, et à créer des communautés plus connectées et dynamiques.

Pour atteindre ce niveau de certification, nous avons mis en place plusieurs initiatives, telles que:

Installations et services : Nous avons installé de nombreux supports à vélos ainsi qu’une station de réparation autonome. Nous avons également obtenu l’abonnement corporatif BIXI pour inciter nos employés à utiliser le vélo comme moyen de transport privilégié durant la belle saison.
Événements et sensibilisation : Nous organisons un événement de mise au point de vélos par une équipe de professionnels durant deux journées complètes au printemps, offrant des mises au point gratuites pour nos employés. Notre engagement se manifeste aussi à travers notre participation annuelle aux 48H vélo Make-A-Wish, où nos équipes Stingray récoltent des fonds pour une noble cause lire l'article complet ici.
Communication et éducation : Nous tenons nos employés informés des initiatives relatives à la pratique du vélo lors du processus d’accueil des nouveaux employés et via l’intranet. Notre club de vélo interne rassemble les passionnés pour échanger des conseils et organiser des sorties.

Un engagement continu

Cette certification n'est qu'un début. Nous nous engageons à poursuivre nos efforts pour améliorer nos infrastructures et nos programmes, et à encourager davantage nos employés à adopter le vélo comme moyen de transport privilégié.

Ateliera annuel de mise au point et réparation de vélos gratuit pour nos employés à notre bureau de Montréal, en partenariat avec Allo Vélo.

Dans l'année à venir, nous souhaitons renforcer notre engagement envers le vélo en évaluant les besoins de nos employés pour mieux adapter nos infrastructures, en continuant de permettre à nos employés de maintenir leurs vélos en parfait état gratuitement et en organisant des ateliers animés par des professionnels pour sensibiliser nos employés aux bienfaits du cyclisme pour la santé et l'environnement. Ces campagnes de sensibilisation viseront à s'assurer que toutes nos initiatives soient accessibles et inclusives, afin de créer un environnement propice au cyclisme, améliorant ainsi la qualité de vie de nos employés tout en réduisant notre empreinte environnementale.

Île Soniq 2024 was nothing short of spectacular. With an eclectic lineup of world-renowned DJs and rising stars, this year’s festival delivered unforgettable performances that had the crowd dancing late into the night. Stingray had the privilege of experiencing the magic firsthand, capturing the essence of the event through electric performances, exclusive artist interviews, and engaging with the fans who make it all possible.

Unforgettable Performances

The energy at Île Soniq was palpable as some of the biggest names in electronic music took the stage. DJ Snake brought his unique flair, mixing global beats with hard-hitting drops that kept the audience on their toes. Loud Luxury, a duo known for their catchy melodies and danceable rhythms, delivered an energetic performance that had everyone singing along to hits. Zedd set the tone with a high-octane performance, blending his signature hits with new, innovative sounds that had the crowd buzzing. Tïesto, a legend in his own right, followed with a set that was both nostalgic and fresh, reminding everyone why he remains at the top of the industry.

Exclusive Artist Interviews

While the performances were undoubtedly the highlight of the festival, Stingray also had the opportunity to sit down with some of the artists for exclusive interviews. Rising star Mike Demero is quickly becoming a household name, thanks to his viral presence on TikTok. In our interview, Demero opened up about his meteoric rise to fame, crediting the platform for giving him a unique space to connect with his audience. His latest single, "Take Me Away," has been a massive success, resonating with fans worldwide. When asked about his dream collaboration, Demero didn’t hesitate to mention Lana Del Rey. He shared that her ethereal voice and vintage style have been a significant influence on his music.

Île Soniq is more than just a festival; it’s a community of passionate music lovers. Stingray took to the streets to chat with festival-goers about their experiences. The excitement in the air was undeniable as fans shared who they were most thrilled to see perform. DJ Snake and Subtronics were top favorites, but many also expressed their excitement for other acts like Loud Luxury and the ever-energetic Timmy Trumpet. When asked who they’d like to see at next year’s festival, the responses were as diverse as the lineup itself. Some fans hoped for appearances by electronic music icons like Calvin Harris, Charli XCX, and interestingly, Coldplay. We couldn’t resist asking fans about their favorite TikTok trends. The “Apple Dance” trend by Charli XCX was a recurring favorite, but fans also mentioned trends like the “give me my money” trend and the viral “HOT TO GO” dance.

Cette année encore, Stingray a fièrement participé au 48 heures vélo de la fondation Rêves d’enfants, un événement annuel qui rassemble des équipes de tous horizons en soutien à une noble cause : réaliser les rêves d’enfants atteints de maladies graves.

Nos équipes dévouées, menées par les enthousiastes Philippe Barsi et Gabriel Genest, se sont lancées dans cette aventure avec détermination et un objectif commun. Leurs efforts inlassables et les généreuses contributions de notre famille Stingray ont permis de recueillir un impressionnant 13 799 $!

L’événement a non seulement témoigné de notre engagement envers la communauté, mais nous a également offert une merveilleuse occasion de renforcer les liens au sein de l’équipe. La préparation pour la course, les encouragements lors du jour J, et le sentiment d’accomplissement partagé ont tous contribué à une expérience enrichissante.

Nous sommes incroyablement fiers de nos équipes et reconnaissants envers tous ceux qui ont soutenu cette cause. Vos contributions ont fait une différence significative dans la vie de nombreux enfants.

Nous avons demandé à nos deux chefs d’équipe, Philippe et Gabriel, de nous donner un aperçu de leur expérience le temps d’une courte entrevue :

Quelles étaient vos motivations personnelles pour participer au 48 heures vélo de la fondation Rêves d’enfants?

Philippe : « J’étais très motivé à participer à cette course pour plusieurs raisons. Premièrement, j’adore le cyclisme. Deuxièmement, la cause soutenue par cet événement – réaliser les vœux d’enfants malades – me tient particulièrement à cœur. Je crois fermement que chaque enfant mérite de vivre des moments de joie et d’espoir, et si ma participation peut y contribuer, alors j’aurai atteint mon objectif.

Enfin, je suis motivé par le défi physique que représente une course de 48 heures. C’est une occasion pour moi de me surpasser et de montrer que lorsque nous sommes déterminés, nous pouvons accomplir de grandes choses.

En somme, ma participation au 48 heures vélo de la fondation Rêves d’enfants était motivée par ma passion pour le cyclisme, mon désir de contribuer à une cause noble et mon goût pour le défi. »

Comment l’équipe Stingray s’est-elle préparée à l’événement? Quel a été l’impact de la course sur la cohésion de l’équipe et l’expérience des employés?

Gabriel : « La préparation en vue d’une course de 48 heures à vélo est généralement intensive et nécessite beaucoup de planification et de coordination.

En ce qui concerne l’impact sur la cohésion de l’équipe et l’expérience des employés, la participation à un événement comme celui-ci peut avoir plusieurs avantages. Elle renforce l’esprit d’équipe, car les membres doivent travailler ensemble pour atteindre un objectif commun, améliore la communication et la collaboration entre les membres de l’équipe, et constitue une expérience enrichissante pour les employés, qui ont l’opportunité de contribuer à une cause noble tout en se mettant au défi physiquement. »

Quels ont été les moments les plus mémorables de l’événement?

Gabriel : « J’ai autant aimé rouler en équipe que rouler seul de nuit. »

Philippe : « Au-delà de la course, l’expérience en elle-même est assez mémorable. Nous avions la chance d’avoir un DJ Stingray qui a mixé pendant 48 h non-stop! Les participants d’autres entreprises autour de nous ont dansé tout le week-end sur notre musique! »

Qu’avez-vous ressenti lorsque vous avez dépassé votre objectif de collecte de fonds?

Philippe : « Lorsqu’une équipe dépasse son objectif de collecte de fonds, surtout pour une cause aussi noble que celle de Rêves d’enfants, les sentiments de joie et de fierté sont grands. C’est une grande réalisation qui prouve non seulement l’effort et le dévouement de l’équipe, mais aussi le soutien et la générosité des donateurs. Notre contribution est également synonyme d’optimisme et d’espoir, puisque les fonds recueillis auront une incidence positive dans la vie d’enfants malades. »

Que diriez-vous à d’autres employés de Stingray qui envisageraient de participer à des événements caritatifs à l’avenir?

Gabriel : « La préparation pour la course est un excellent moyen de renforcer la cohésion de l’équipe et de développer votre endurance et votre force. Et le jour de la course, l’excitation et l’énergie sont palpables.

Mais le moment le plus gratifiant est sans doute lorsque vous réalisez l’impact de votre participation. Savoir que vous avez contribué à réaliser les vœux d’enfants malades est une sensation inégalable. »

Philippe : « Si vous envisagez de participer, je vous dirais sans hésitation : allez-y! C’est une expérience que vous n’oublierez pas de sitôt et qui vous apportera beaucoup de satisfaction. »

Pour beaucoup d'entre nous, la routine quotidienne est assez standard : se réveiller, déjeuner, se brosser les dents, s'habiller et aller au bureau. Simple, n’est-ce pas ? Et si vous disposiez de tous les outils nécessaires pour réussir, mais que les vêtements dans votre garde-robe ne représentaient pas votre véritable talent?

En cette journée internationale des femmes, nous sommes heureux d’organiser une collecte de vêtements pour les employés du bureau de Montréal en collaboration avec Dress for Success, un organisme qui permet aux femmes d'atteindre l'indépendance économique en leur offrant un réseau de soutien, des vêtements professionnels et des outils de développement pour les aider à s'épanouir au travail et dans la vie.

Dress for Success offre aux femmes une tenue professionnelle pour trouver un emploi et un réseau de soutien pour les aider à atteindre leurs objectifs. Une équipe les accompagne tout au long de leur parcours, de l'obtention d'un entretien d'embauche jusqu'à la réussite professionnelle. Elles obtiennent même les services d’un styliste pour sélectionner leur tenue professionnelle et reçoivent aussi un encadrement et des conseils lors de la préparation de leur entrevue.

Les employés de Stingray disposent de deux semaines pour faire le ménage de leur garde-robe et offrir à Dress for Success des vêtements appropriés au lieu de travail qui bénéficieraient d’une deuxième vie.

L’organisme accepte les types d'articles pour femmes suivants dans toutes les tailles:

Costumes d'affaires
Blazers, pantalons, jupes et robes modernes et professionnels
Foulards, bijoux, sacs à main
Vêtements d'extérieur professionnels
Chaussures professionnelles
Nylons et sous-vêtements non ouverts
Maquillage et cosmétiques non ouverts

Nous sommes ravis de renouveler notre collaboration avec le Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal pour l’exposition À plein volume : Basquiat et la musique, organisée conjointement avec le Musée de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris. Il s’agit de la première grande exposition pluridisciplinaire consacrée à la place de la musique dans l’œuvre de l’un des artistes les plus novateurs de la seconde moitié du 20e siècle.

Tout au long de l'exposition, nous découvrons son processus de pensée artistique à travers ses peintures, nous permettant ainsi de mieux comprendre sa vision et ce qu’il vivait émotionnellement à certaines étapes de sa vie. Plusieurs de ses peintures sont inspirées par le jazz et le hip hop, témoins de la façon singulière dont il utilisait la musique pour exprimer ses émotions sur une toile. En tant que spectateurs, nous sommes transportés par son parcours artistique et découvrons pourquoi son œuvre est demeuré une puissante force culturelle au fil des ans.

Nos programmeurs de musique Charles Boyer et Brian Joseph ont conçu pour l’occasion la chaîne Basquiat et la musique, offerte sur Stingray Musique, pour souligner les chansons et les artistes ayant joué un rôle essentiel dans l’approche picturale de Jean-Michel Basquiat. La chaîne comprend de la musique des musiciens qui l’ont inspiré, de Beethoven aux artistes de la scène underground new-yorkaise des années 1970 et 1980, en passant par Charlie Parker, Miles Davis et Maria Callas.

We're thrilled to renew our collaboration with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts for the Seeing Loud: Basquiat and Music exhibit. Organized in partnership with the Musée de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris, it is the first large-scale multidisciplinary exhibition devoted to the role of music by one of the most innovative artists in the second half of the 20th century.

As we take in more of his paintings throughout the exhibit, we’re offered glimpses of his artistic thought process. We can better understand his vision and what he was going through emotionally at certain phases in his life. In his unique way, he uses music to express his emotions on canvas. Several of his paintings are jazz and hip hop inspired, representing how he felt while listening to specific songs. As viewers, we can follow his artistic journey and uncover how and why his work remains a powerful cultural force throughout the years.

🎧Prolong the musical experience on Stingray Music with the Basquiat and Music channel.

Our music programmers, Charles Boyer and Brian Joseph, specially designed the Stingray Music channel Basquiat and Music to highlight the songs and artists that played an integral role in Jean-Michel Basquiat’s painterly approach. The channel includes music from the musicians who inspired him, from Beethoven to the New York underground scene of the 1970s and 1980s and, notably, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and Maria Callas.

The Basquiat exhibit is an unforgettable experience everyone should enjoy. It’s a unique opportunity to see a collection that is still impacting society today: the music, the people, the art, and the setting. Everything is truly inspiring.

The Seeing Loud: Basquiat and Music exhibition will run through February 19, 2023.
