12e Gala de la SPACQ

C’est dans une salle de l’édifice de la Banque Nationale, dans le cadre du 12e Gala de la SPACQ (Société professionnelle des auteurs et des compositeurs du Québec) et ce parmi toutes sortes de monde soit des auteurs, des compositeurs, des éditeurs, des producteurs, des diffuseurs que Stingray a offert le Prix André « Dédé » Fortin (d’une valeur de 10 000$) à deux artistes émergents au parcours passionnant, Koriass et Antoine Corriveau. Les deux bourses ont été accordées dans le cadre du programme Prix Étoiles Stingray de Stingray Musique, qui existe depuis maintenant 15 ans. À chaque année plus d’une vingtaine de bourses sont remises à des artistes de tous les horizons musicaux.

Jazzamboka

Jazzamboka have been named the Stingray Rising Star Award winners at Montreal International Jazz Festival 2017! The band is made up of Emile Farley (electric bass), Julien Fillion (saxophone), Félix Le Blanc (keyboard / piano), Elli Miller-Maboungou (ngoma – congolese drums), and Noel Mpiaza (drums/vocals). They are signed with the label 270 Sessions and have been playing together for 3 years. The band notes that their main musical influences are: Avishai Cohen, Tambours de Brazzas, Lionel Loueke, Tigran Hamasyan, and Fally Ipupa. They plan to use their prize money to go on tour in the coming months.

Youth Summit Winners | Ottawa Jazz Festival

The TD Jazz Youth Summit at Ottawa Jazz Festival is one of Stingray's favourite Rising Star programs. The summit allows young jazz musicians from across Canada to learn from and perform with amazing established talent at a real festival. Metalwood Takes the JUNO for Jazz Album of the Year

Stingray was a proud sponsor of the Jazz Album of the Year category at this year's JUNO Awards. We were thrilled see the award go to such a deserving and talented group. Metalwood is an outstanding jazz band with many accolades already under their belt. Their recent album was really the cherry on top of a beautiful career. We can't wait to see what they do next!

Launched in 1998 as Galaxie Rising Star, this original program sets out to discover, encourage, promote and champion new up-and-coming Canadian artists. To that end, Stingray Music has partnered with numerous industry organisations and regional festivals to offer cash awards and provide showcase opportunities to great new Canadian talent of all genres.
