Artists To Watch: Jazzahead! 2019 | Stingray DJAZZ

An international trade fair, exhibition, and renowned festival, ! is one of the jazz community's most important annual events. To Believe by The Cinematic Orchestra

The musical brains behind The Cinematic Orchestra, founder Jason Swinscoe and longtime musical collaborator Dominic Smith, seem to be very pleased with the general reception of their last studio release, and its opening track To Build a Home,” in particular. The overall atmosphere of the new album resembles its predecessor in many ways: the specific tempo, vocal presence, and certain harmonic patterns all add to the feeling that “To Believe” looks back to the past rather than the future. Perhaps it was the huge success of To Build a Home that influenced the ensemble's musical direction, as to this day the track recorded in collaboration with Canadian singer-songwriter Patrick Watson features on various movies, TV, and radio programs.

ESNS 2019: Overview | Stingray

There aren’t many music festivals in Europe that have as much importance and weight in the music industry as the Eurosonic Noorderslag. Every year in January, the Dutch city Groningen becomes the European capital of young emerging artists. The annual four-day event has already helped launch the careers of musicians King of Convenience, The Libertines, James Blake, The Subways, Franz Ferdinand, Selah Sue, Ben l’Oncle Soul, Melanie de Biasio, and Anne-Marie. While no one knows who the next big act will be, many professionals from the music industry come to discover new artists. Many professionals take the opportunity to network, create opportunities, and solidify new partnerships. Stingray Music partnered with ESNS 2019 to launch the new format sessions, talk business, meet new colleagues, and spot the next Dua Lipa.
